Start the high projection. Break ties with recent scoring. Every number is PPR points for Week 8, as of Oct 27, 2026. One trap first: 7 players listed Out still carry a projection of 10 or more, Lamar Jackson's 20.1 among them. They are left out of the tiers below.

How the tiers work. Within each position, Tier 1 is any player less than 3 points below the top projection. Tier 2 is 3 to 6 points back, and Tier 3 is 6 to 9. Players in a tier are close enough to swap. Pick Tier 1 before you think about anything else.

2Jacoby Brissett (ARI)19.116.216.2Active
3Bryce Young (CAR)18.32015.6Active

Josh Allen tops the board at 24.4, and he can afford a dip: his 27.5 season average is the best of the seven. The projection is 3.1 below it. Dak Prescott is the opposite. He is projected for 22.9 against a 19 season average, a 3.9-point bump that is the biggest in the table, and his last three are lower at 15.6. Drake Maye has the hottest recent run at 30.2 PPG over his last three. Tier 1 is those three.

Running backs

2Chase Brown (CIN)17.712.512Active
3Chuba Hubbard (CAR)16.91818.3Active
3Ashton Jeanty (LV)16.617.416Active

Jahmyr Gibbs is alone at the top: 23.1 projected, 28.5 per game this season. That season number is 5.4 above the projection, the widest drop from average to projection in the table. Bijan Robinson is projected at 21.2, but he is scoring 13.4 over his last three against 20.8 on the year. Chase Brown has the biggest projection bump at 5.2 points over his 12.5 average. His last three, 12, look more like the average than the projection. Tier 1 is Jahmyr Gibbs, Bijan Robinson, Kenneth Walker III.

Wide receivers

1Jaxon Smith-Njigba (SEA)25.12826.5Active
2Puka Nacua (LAR)21.722.724.5Active

3Drake London (ATL)17.215.416.9Questionable
3Christian Watson (GB)16.518.517.5Active

Jaxon Smith-Njigba (25.1) has the top projection of any player at any position and the best season average among the receivers at 28. Treat him as a lock, and the only Tier 1 receiver. Puka Nacua (21.7) leads Tier 2. CeeDee Lamb is there too at 21.4, but his last three average 14.4, well below his 22.2 season mark. Justin Jefferson has the lowest last-three of the nine at 10.8 and the biggest projection bump over his 14.4 average (3.9 points). The two numbers disagree, so he is a Tier 3 start, a flex call and not a must-start. Amon-Ra St. Brown and Drake London are both listed Questionable. Amon-Ra St. Brown is projected for 17.2 against a 21.4 season average.

Tight ends

TierPlayerProjSeason PPGLast 3 PPGStatus

3T.J. Hockenson (MIN)11.110.513.4Active
3Tucker Kraft (GB)10.810.211.7Active

Trey McBride (19.3) and Brock Bowers (16.9) are Tier 1. After them there is a 5.3-point cliff to Travis Kelce at 11.6. If you do not own one of the top two, every other tight end is a Tier 3 start. Tyler Warren is projected for 10.9 but listed Out, so he is not in the table.

Out, but still projected

PlayerPosProjSeason PPGGamesStatus
Lamar Jackson (BAL)QB20.1204Out

Emeka Egbuka (TB)WR11.911.96Out
Tyler Warren (IND)TE10.9145Out
Ladd McConkey (LAC)WR10.37.85Out

A projection is not a status. Lamar Jackson has played 4 games and shows 20.1, which would be the sixth-best quarterback number on the board. He is listed Out. Check the tag before you trust a number.

Flex: two ties

Two pairs of flex players share a projection, so the projection cannot decide it. Last-three scoring does.

PlayerPosProjSeason PPGLast 3 PPGStatus
Amon-Ra St. Brown (DET)WR17.221.417.5Questionable
Drake London (ATL)WR17.215.416.9Questionable
Brock Bowers (LV)TE16.919.115.8Active
Chuba Hubbard (CAR)RB16.91818.3Active

At 17.2, Amon-Ra St. Brown has the better last three (17.5 against 16.9 for Drake London), but both are Questionable. Whoever you start, check the status Sunday morning and have a backup ready. At 16.9, Chuba Hubbard gets the nod on recent scoring, 18.3 to 15.8, unless you are weighing the tight end position scarcity. If you need the whole board, the flex start/sit page has it.

When the last three games disagree with the projection

PlayerPosProjLast 3 PPGLast 3 minus proj
Drake MayeQB22.330.2+7.9
Joe BurrowQB21.425.7+4.3

Bijan RobinsonRB21.213.4-7.8
Justin JeffersonWR18.310.8-7.5
Dak PrescottQB22.915.6-7.3

The top three are running hotter than the projection and the bottom three colder. A gap is a flag, not an order. Three games is a small sample.

How to use this

  1. Start Tier 1 at every position. You do not need to out-think it.
  2. Fill flex from the highest projection. Break ties on last-three.
  3. Check status Sunday morning. Only 2 of the 31 players in the position tables carry a tag, both of them Questionable, and 7 Out players still show a projection.
  4. Go deeper. The Week 8 start/sit page covers more players, and the start/sit tool compares two of yours.

Frequently asked questions

Who are the top fantasy quarterbacks to start in Week 8?

By PPR projection as of Oct 27, 2026: Josh Allen (24.4), Dak Prescott (22.9), Drake Maye (22.3), Joe Burrow (21.4). Lamar Jackson shows 20.1 but is listed Out.

Who should I start at flex in Week 8?

Two pairs tie. Amon-Ra St. Brown and Drake London are both 17.2 and both Questionable. Brock Bowers and Chuba Hubbard are both 16.9. Last-three PPG separates them: 17.5 to 16.9 in the first pair and 18.3 to 15.8 in the second.

Is Jahmyr Gibbs a must-start in Week 8?

Yes by the numbers. He is projected for 23.1, the highest running back projection, and averages 28.5 per game over 6 games.

Does a projection mean a player is playing?

No. 7 players listed Out still carry a Week 8 projection of 10 or more, led by Lamar Jackson at 20.1. Check the injury tag first.

Should I trust projections or recent scoring?

Use projections first and recent scoring as the tie-breaker. When the last-three is more than a few points away from the projection, treat it as a flag, not an answer.
