Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups: Which Adds the Projections Back

Only 6 of the 25 most-added Week 9 waiver players have a projection of 8 or more. Chase them, skip the 12 hype adds and see the split by position.

Of the 25 most-added players on Sleeper heading into Week 9, 6 have a Week 9 PPR projection of 8 or more, led by Kirk Cousins (15.8), Chris Godwin Jr. (10.4) and Tyler Higbee (9.8). 12 are hype adds with a projection under 6 or none, led by Adonai Mitchell (440K adds, 4.1 projected). As of Nov 2, 2026.

Everybody adds the same names every week. Most of them do nothing for you on Sunday. So here is the cut: take the 25 most-added players on Sleeper in the last 24 hours and set each one against his Week 9 projection, his projection for the next three weeks, his season PPG and his last three games. Scoring is PPR. Adds and projections as of Nov 2, 2026.

The rule is simple. Backed means a Week 9 projection of 8 points or more. Hype means a projection under 6, or no projection at all. The 7 in between are depth. Only one of the 25 carries a status tag: Jadarian Price is listed IR. The other 24 show none.

The adds the projections back

"Next 3 wks" is the sum of the projections we have, and the number in parentheses is how many weeks that covers. Only 6 of the 25 clear the bar, and together they pulled 1.12M adds in 24 hours.

Kirk Cousins is the clear number one. He is projected at 15.8, the top mark on the list, and his next-three sum of 47.4 is the biggest too. He is averaging 20.6 PPG over 8 games and 22.4 over his last three. He is 38, and his 87K adds are a fraction of the 562K that Devin Singletary pulled. In a one-quarterback league you need one of these, and he is the backed one. Gardner Minshew II is also on the list at 147K adds, but he has 1 game played and no projection. We won't guess.

The skill players are close. Chris Godwin Jr. tops the wide receivers at 10.4, though he is averaging 6.6 PPG on the season and 4.8 over his last three. Tyler Higbee leads the tight ends at 9.8 with 3.3 over his last three. Jordan Addison (8.4) and Ryan Flournoy (8.2, 13.7 over his last three) are the steady options. Devin Singletary is the most-added player on the whole list, 562K adds in 24 hours and 921K in 72, with a projection of exactly 8. He has played 4 games and averages 8.4. The projection earns him a spot on this list, not a stampede.

The hype: big adds, small projections

These 12 players pulled 1.75M adds in 24 hours. The 6 backed players pulled 1.12M. That is the gap this piece is about.

Three names say it loudest. Adonai Mitchell is the most-added of the group with 440K adds in 24 hours, a projection of 4.1 and 4 games played. Seth McGowan has the biggest 72-hour total, 537K, with a projection of 5.3 and 2.7 PPG over 8 games. Elijah Mitchell is projected at 0.6, the lowest projection on the list, and has played 2 games.

Missing projections. Gardner Minshew II and Elic Ayomanor have no Week 9 projection in our data. Elic Ayomanor has 79K adds, 5 PPG and a next-three sum covering 2 weeks.

The bait is the add count. Makai Lemon has 135K adds and a 5 projection. Emmett Johnson has 203K and 4.5. A big add count is not a projection.

The middle: depth, not a plan

7 more are projected between 6 and 8 points, with 870K adds between them. Tyler Allgeier has the most adds in this group, 254K, at exactly 6 projected and 16.6 over his last three. Braelon Allen has the hottest recent scoring of the seven: 18.4 PPG over his last three against 12.5 for the season, with a 6.3 projection. Cooper Kupp (7.7), Kenny Gainwell (6.9), Mason Taylor (6.7), Kimani Vidal (6.3) and Samaje Perine (6.2) round it out. Add one if you have a hole and nobody better.

Running backs are 12 of the 25 and 2.07M of the 3.74M adds, 55%. Only 1 of them is backed (Devin Singletary, 8), and 6 are hype. Those 6 pulled 789K adds. If you need a back, you are choosing depth, not a starter.

Wide receivers are the other big group: 9 on the list, 3 backed and 5 hype. Tight ends are thin, with 2 on the list and Tyler Higbee the only one at 8 or better.

How to use this

  1. Open with the backed list. If one fits your roster hole, bid on him.
  2. Match the add to your need. A second quarterback does nothing in a one-quarterback league.
  3. Skip anyone whose projection is under 6. A heavy add count with a low projection is the pattern to avoid.
  4. Check status before kickoff. These numbers are from Monday. A status change beats them.
  5. Go past the top 25. The full Week 9 waiver wire updates daily, and the waiver wire tool sorts it against your own roster. For the weeks ahead, see the rest-of-season rankings.
