If you hold a running back who is 27 or older, this is the month to price him. Values as of Oct 22, 2026.
Our data shows how lopsided the position is. Of the top 24 backs by value, 9 are 27 or older and 9 are 24 or younger. The old group is worth 34,857 points combined. The young group is worth 43,440. That tells you where the market already leans, and it is not toward age.
Below: the backs to sell, the young backs to buy, and four trades that land within 5% on our calculator rule. Every value is on a 0-10,000 scale. "Flag" is our buy/sell signal: how far the draft market sits from the experts.
Sell: running backs 27 and older
| Player | Age | Value (1QB) | Superflex | Change since Oct 15 | PPG | Last 3 | Flag |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| James Cook III (BUF) | 27 | 7,145 | 5,341 | +564 (+8.6%) | 18.9 | 21.1 | — |
| Jonathan Taylor (IND) | 27 | 6,763 | 5,042 | -572 (-7.8%) | 19.8 | 18.3 | — |
| Chuba Hubbard (CAR) | 27 | 3,123 | 2,345 | -90 (-2.8%) | 19.6 | 20 | sell (+340%) |
| D'Andre Swift (CHI) | 27 | 2,475 | 1,849 | +299 (+13.7%) | 17.3 | 15.9 | sell (+88%) |
| Christian McCaffrey (SF) | 30 | 5,379 | 4,214 | +124 (+2.4%) | 20.3 | 21.3 | sell (+96%) |
| Derrick Henry (BAL) | 32 | 2,885 | 2,205 | +26 (+0.9%) | 19.5 | 14 | sell (+193%) |
James Cook III is the toughest call. At 7,145 he is the most valuable back in this group, and he is up 564 since Oct 15 while scoring 18.9 per game, 21.1 over his last three. Nothing in the numbers says he is falling. But he is 27, and a value that has just climbed is the one a buyer will pay for. Sell into strength.
Jonathan Taylor is the opposite case. His value dropped 572 (7.8%) in a week, the largest fall in this group, even though he scores 19.8 per game and 18.3 over his last three. The production is fine. The market is already moving, so waiting for a bounce is a bet against the trend.
Derrick Henry is 32. He averages 19.5 for the season but only 14 over his last three, the biggest recent drop of the six. His value of 2,885 is still real. The draft market prices him 193% above the experts, which is our sell signal. Of the six, he is the one to move first.
Christian McCaffrey is 30, the oldest back in the top 12 by value, and is flagged sell, with the draft market 96% above the experts. He scores 20.3 per game, so contenders still want him. If you are rebuilding, that demand is your exit.
Chuba Hubbard and D'Andre Swift are both 27, both flagged sell, and both worth far less than the names above. Hubbard is at 3,123 with 19.6 per game. Swift is at 2,475 with 17.3, up 299 on the week.
Buy: young backs under 25
| Player | Age | Value (1QB) | Superflex | Change since Oct 15 | PPG | Last 3 | Flag |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ashton Jeanty (LV) | 22 | 6,409 | 5,052 | +165 (+2.6%) | 16.7 | 15 | buy (-62%) |
| Omarion Hampton (LAC) | 23 | 2,900 | 2,050 | -534 (-15.6%) | 9.6 | 8.7 | buy (-89%) |
| Quinshon Judkins (CLE) | 22 | 1,841 | 1,402 | +7 (+0.4%) | 11.3 | 13.2 | buy (-63%) |
| TreVeyon Henderson (NE) | 24 | 1,383 | 976 | -112 (-7.5%) | 5.9 | 4 | buy (-94%) |
| Cam Skattebo (NYG) | 24 | 1,104 | 875 | -834 (-43.0%) | 8.5 | 9.2 | buy (-97%) |
| Bhayshul Tuten (JAX) | 23 | 2,442 | 1,843 | +775 (+46.5%) | 14.7 | 15.8 | sell (+48%) |
Ashton Jeanty (age 22) is the headliner. He is the most valuable back in this group at 6,409, and our signal says the draft market is 62% below the experts. He scores 16.7 per game, so this is a value buy, not a cheap one.
Omarion Hampton (age 23) is the patience play. He is down 534 (15.6%) since Oct 15 and scores 9.6 per game with 8.7 over his last three. That is a thin box score, but the market is 89% below the experts on him. A falling price on a 23-year-old back is the kind of entry you wait for.
Cam Skattebo has the largest drop in the buy group: down 834 (43.0%). At 1,104 he is the cheapest of the six. TreVeyon Henderson is at 1,383 and averages 5.9 per game, so he is a pure stash. Quinshon Judkins is 22 and listed Questionable; check his status before you trade.
Bhayshul Tuten is the caution. He is up 775 (46.5%) on the week and the signal says sell, with the market 48% above the experts. He scores 14.7 per game. Buy him only if the price is a veteran swap, like the one below.
Four trades the calculator calls fair
| Trade | You send | You get | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Derrick Henry for Omarion Hampton | 2,885 | 2,900 | -0.5% |
| D'Andre Swift for Bhayshul Tuten | 2,475 | 2,442 | +1.3% |
| James Cook III for Ashton Jeanty + Cam Skattebo | 7,145 | 7,237 | -1.3% |
| Chuba Hubbard for Cam Skattebo + Bhayshul Tuten | 3,123 | 3,270 | -4.5% |
These use 1QB values and our trade rule: the best piece counts 100%, the second 75%. Fair means within 5%. On superflex values the Derrick Henry for Omarion Hampton swap comes out +7.0%.
The Henry-for-Hampton swap is the cleanest. You trade a 32-year-old for a 23-year-old at essentially the same price, a 0.5% gap. The cost is production now: Henry scores 19.5 per game, Hampton 9.6. If you are contending, that matters. If you are not, take it.
How to use this
- Find every back on your roster who is 27 or older and look up his value on his player page.
- Sort them by the flag. A sell flag plus a rising price is the best time to move him.
- Run the swap in the trade analyzer before you message anyone.
- Contenders: keep the veteran if he starts for you. Rebuilders: sell now.
- See the full board on the dynasty running back rankings and the buy-low and sell-high list.
The top of the board is young. Jahmyr Gibbs (24) and Bijan Robinson (24) rank first and second among backs, at 9,444 and 9,260. You do not need to chase the age curve to see where it points.
